Can someone tell me why boys insist on running around naked? Now this fascination isnt a new thing, per say. Hes been running from us putting his pants on after diaper changes for a while now, and he figured out how to take his own shirt off a few months ago. It got to the point where he was always running around the house in just his diaper, and I was going to have to accept that. Thats not so bad, right?
Well, right before Brylee was born, he started showing an interest in going on the potty...like daddy does. Great right!? Not so much. Now he has figured out how to take his diaper off every time he goes in it, Yes 1 and 2; and leave it lying there. Even if its just a little wet...off it goes. Then he takes it upon himself to go play...or sit wherever he pleases whether it be on the carpet...or my pillow with his newly contaminated behind; thus requiring extra clean up work for me. This is where I found him today-behind the chair in my room, reading a book. He's hiding because he knows deep down that he shouldnt take his diaper off, since hes been told...once or twice.
Thank goodness it was only wet this time! So we're thinking, he definitely has to learn to go on the potty...SOON! So we have been looking for underwear his size for about a month, and couldnt find any size 2. They only carried sizes 4 and up. Hello! Do most kids in Wisconsin start potty training when they are 4? Finally, yesterday I just bought the 4's. How big can they really be? Okay they drowned him just a little, let alone he is confused about how they are supposed to be worn...

Abi used to take her diaper off all of the time whether it was wet, poopy, or dry and we had accidents because of it. It was driving me nuts so I started putting packing tape around it every time she took it off. I would wrap it around her whole waist so she couldn't take it off without my help. She HATED it so after only a few days of that she stopped doing it.
Alex still runs around naked way too often or in nothing but underwear. They do make 2T-3T underwear. Skinny little Alyssa just grew out of them at age 6 1/2.
Yes... as annoying and frustrating as it may be for you, he can be totally ready. Max showed an interest at 21 months and I had NO intention of potty training him until he was like 3...well, he has been in underwear for the past 3-4 months now. and YES...they do make small sizes. I got them at walmart and they are the disney pack. I noticed those size 2-3's were smaller then the Sesame Street pack.
I still remind him and take him or just say... go potty and he will go. He goes himself without being told here and there, but most times I just say GO and off he goes. I dont tell people he's potty trained because he is NOT 100% since I still remind him. Yes, we still have the occasional accident, but considering he is only 26 months, I really can't complain. (And the accidents aren't even bad, he only barely wets himself and then tells me and then he can hold it enough to go in the bathroom).
He wears underwear for his naps and for bed I still put him in a diaper, but most mornings he wakes up dry. It can be done, and yes it was annoying at first having to be so watchful... but its been so nice considering my 2 year old was pretty much potty trained. Good luck! The only thing that stunk was that once he learned how to go #1 standing up...he began to think #2 was done the SAME way! So that was a temporary fight to teach him that we dont go #2 standing! ;)
I'm sorry all I can do is laugh. Not at your pain or frustration but because your little guy is so cute. I don't know if boys are harder. I do know that if the one I'm baking is a boy dad gets to handle the potty this time.
My boys will totally kill me for saying this. But cheerios in the toilet work really well. It keeps interest and it gives them something to aim at. Good Luck!
I had mostly boys than girls. This sounds totally normal to me. Under-roo's was the undee's to have at the time. I called it air out time. I checked the baby book and boy #2 was potty trained at 27 months and did a good job. Especially if he got Star War points with the toy lazier shooter. Plus he had older bro to guide him along. Bro #3 got even more benefits. Good times - Good times!! Believe me you'll get through it in one piece and look back at it as hilarious. Hope that helps.
Hey they sell the smaller sizes in the baby section were you would find the onsies. It's funny to read this because just in the past few days Kage has been doing the same thing. I am in the middle of attempting at potty training the twins right now, I am done with three in diapers. Good luck or just send him across the street and he anad kage can run around naked here. The carpet is already ruined anyways.
